Craigslist’s Craig Newmark and Stephen Colbert

January 3, 2008 · 3 comments

Craig Newmark, the founder of Craig’s list was one of the keynote speakers at PubCon this year. During his presentation he mentioned his interview on the Colbert report. I just happen to have a Colbert video Google gadget and todays video just happened to be that interview. Update: the gadget displays a new video each day, so now that is a new day, there is a different video.

You can see some of my other Colbert gadgets featured on the Colberticon gadgets page

Hi, thanks for the great blog. I find the ideas presented here very exciting.

I’m wondering if you can write a bit about the sorting or ranking process at Google Gadgets. I put up a gadget called ‘virtual weight loss’ a couple of weeks ago and although i see it already has about 400 users, it still sits unseen in last place — behind all your damn virtual pets ;-)
How soon might my gadget move up the ladder and take it’s rightful place above some of your less used virtual pets?

cheers,
Adriana

haha -
I will do just that Adriana.

I wrote about some of the specifics of the gadget directories and how they work before, but then Google changed everything.
There are definite relevancy problems with the gadget directory search function. I have highlighted these problems to the Google gadget team at Google.
More soon…
