Blogger in Draft (the “preview” version of Blogger) announced the addition of Google gadgets to Blogger sidebars. This might not seem like a big deal, after all, you could already add Google gadgets to blogs right?
The difference is how they get there.
When you click on “Add a Page Element” you get a few new choices in the draft version of Blogger, the one we are talking about today is “Add Gadget”. Clicking it results in a Google gadget directory showing up.

After choosing a gadget, you get a limited ability to configure it’s size and the gadget preferences. Then you click a button and they are on your blog.

There are several interesting things that change as of this announcement.
It will literally change the way gadgets are made and promoted.
I am about to go to sleep and I am too tired to go into that right now. But there are some interesting things afoot. Very interesting stuff, but I will talk about that in a later post.
I will give you a hint for one of them… Look at the Gadget in the screen shot, it is the Official YouTube gadget… notice anything different?

I am still using the old school templates because I can’t publish the new style blogs to external addresses without using the old templates?
I personally think that this will help people that are not to well versed in programming, such as XML coding. I am just dipping my feet into this area and anything that makes our lives easier, really helps.
Thanks,
Richard Rinyai
