iGoogle Tab Usage Numbers Provided by Google
Not to be confused with iGoogle themes, iGoogle tabs are the way people organize thier personal homepage and therefore, their Google gadgets. When a users clicks “add a tab”, something new has been happening…

Ever wondered how many people are using the Google Webmaster Tools gadgets? Now you can know, because after you click the add a tab as shown above you are asked to enter what your tab is about like “cats” or “cars” or whatever you plan to use the tab for…

Here comes the new part. For the last few weeks Google has been displaying the actual number of people using the different tabs….

I put in “W” and it showed all the different tabs people are using that start with “w”. the second one is “webmaster tools” the name of the tab that comes pre-named when you add the Google webmaster tool gadgets. There are 87,000 users with a tab named “webmaster tools”.
Using this method is a great way to gauge interest that is applicable to your field to determine if you should make Google gadgets.
Some of these numbers are really surprising, for example “cooking” is one one of the most popular tab names. With over two million users having a tab named “cooking” it would make sense to gadgetize your websites functionality if it have something to do with cooking.
