Image SEO Tool Improved!
I have added more functionality to the image SEO tool.
The tool now checks, displays and warns about two other ALT attributes.
Dimensions (height / width) are specifically mentioned by the Google image guidelines. Of dimensions they state:
“Specify a width and height for all images.”
So the tool now displays the width and height if it is there, and if it is not there it displays a warning.
I also now have the tool look for a “title” attribute. If one is there, the tool will display it, and if not, it will display a warning.
Give it a look: Image SEO Tool

Really like the additions, your image tool is very slick. I’m guessing 99% of web designers and developers don’t realize that width, height, alt and title are required. Thanks for sharing.

Per the Google Webmaster Tools guidelines, width and height are mentioned to improve the user experience and help the layout of the page load and look properly. I have never heard that including them in your code will give you any benefit in the search engine rankings and Google does not mention this in their guidelines.
Alt text is the attribute you want to focus on. Image title can also provide some benefit for the user, but do not use it to stuff keywords and make sure it is different than the alt attribute if you use it.

Ryan, dimensions of images are mentioned in the Google guidelines.
There are now Google image guidelines. to be geekily specific about it. The Google webmaster guidelines state that you should follow the image guidelines. The image guidelines state to have height and width on every image
