It's nice to see Rand and the crew adding to the Premium membership services, and this will certainly be a feature worth paying for. I'd also like to see them develop more formal case studies that would be available only to premium members. @Hamlet, it's not that consulting isn't a good strategy, but in an ideal world you would be able to choose your clients carefully. If you're having more success as a company developing projects internally, then stick with that, and only take the handful of clients that can afford your services and truly "get it". One of the more frustrating parts of consulting is that many prospective clients feel they need your help, but don't really understand what you do or how to justify the price, and some are simply unwilling to learn.

Ecopt - I have not asked a question yet, but I will, and I will be upfront about the question, but I won't quote the answer they give, but will will review if it was useful or sucky or whatever.

Loved the line of questioning Pat, keep the great topics coming man! Oh, BTW did you ask a question in the QandA? If so, what was it and can we see a snippet of the answer?

Well done Pat!

After reading Rand's opinion on the direction he is taking Seomoz.org, I am rethinking my company's new direction.

I've spent the last five years using our SEM/Affiliate marketing skills for our own projects with great success. Last month I decided to consider outside clients in an effort to complement our upcoming product launches, but from what I've read from Aaron Wall, Rand, and others offering consulting is not a good idea.

Dave, thanks for the comment. Yeah I was surprised how up front he was about it. I love it that they are going to be so community orientated.

Fantastic interview Patrick. I had a feeling that SEOmoz would gravitate toward that revenue model. Rand and his team certainly have the know how and personalities on board to make it happen.

Keep them coming.
