1. The entire concept of how you get traffic is wrong.
If you are like most people you probably think that things work like this…
It is hard to blame you for thinking this way, as that is how things used to work. It used to be possible to create a website, wait for Google to pick it up, and get buttloads of traffic.
That is no longer the case.
You can complain about it or you can take steps to get traffic again. The first step to getting traffic back requires a shift in thought.
You have to start pleasing people, not Google
You can do SEO stuff until you are blue in the face but those efforts won’t do crap if your website sucks or doesn’t satisfy or pleasure people.
Most people do not like this and the reason they don’t like it is because their website pretty much sucks
If you can’t send an email to a respected person if the field or niche of your website subject and impress that person, you won’t be able to impress Google either.
How to fix this
You need to make a website that will impress people who actually know something about the subject of your website. If your website it about cat food, then that website should be made to impress people who know about cat food.
If you can email someone in the cat food trade and know they will be impressed, your website is good.
If you are embarrassed to send an email to an expert on cat food, because you know they won’t be impressed, then don’t expect Google to rank you well. Google won’t. This is because your website sucks.
The best way to achieve this is to stop working on a million websites and start working on just one at a time. If you spend the time to impress people in your field, you will also impress Google and you can get all that traffic back.
Google does not hate affiliate websites, Google hates crappy websites
- Your website is “crappy” if it does not pleasure actual people.
- Your website is “crappy” if it does not solve problems for people.
- Your website is “crappy” if there are ten thousand websites that do the exact same thing as your website does.
If your website is crap, you won’t rank anymore.
but the websites that rank in my field are crap too…
They won’t rank long, my friends. Be better than them, talk to people in your field and ask them how your website can be better. Every single Google update will push out more and more crap sites.
Stop trying to please Google and start pleasing people.
This is the reality now. Try it on one of your websites, by standing out in your niche, you will enjoy traffic and profit and feel the real gains of people spreading the word about your website for you.
