Uses of iGoogle Tabs

There are many ways to use an iGoogle tab. They can be used to organize your homepage, keep your gadgets separated into themes, and they are great ways to promote a “suite” of gadgets. You can even use them in training.

Training interactively in a tab

An iGoogle tab is a great way to have some interaction with other page elements while having a live teacher describe something.

While working on my Google gadget Tutorial I found that the best way to actually explain how to use the Google gadget editor was to use another live gadget right next to it that displayed a video of me explaining the various features.

GGE tab

I was able to walk someone through all the different features and take them through the steps of creating a gadget as the person who was learning was actually doing those steps.

I was able to “interact” with other page elements, by pointing at other things on the page…

To see it in action you can just add the tab to iGoogle and it will take you right to the lesson.

iGoogle tabs can also be used for promotion…

These are clever and useful ways to promote several gadgets (a gadget suite).

The use of iGoogle tabs is open to just about anything, think of ways to use it for your training, branding or gadgets and you will be ahead of the pack :)
